Robert H. "Dib" Garver, 78, of Lemon Township, died Monday, March 27, 2017, at his home. He was born in Lemon Township on October 15, 1938 to parents Robert H. Sr. and Helen (Selby) Garver.
Dib lived his lifelong dream of being a farmer. He had a passion for the land which showed in all he did. He was an innovator & leader, fabricator & welder and made much of the equipment used on the farm, as well as he designed & built the grain structures. He earned the Conservation Tillage Award, was a member of the Butler County Soil & Water Conservation District and served on the Pork Producers Council for 20 years. He also was a board member for Otterbein Home for 7 years. Dib was a lifelong member of the Monroe United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir since he was 16 years old and was a member of the Beacon Quartet.
Mr. Garver is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Sue Ann (Youtsler) Garver; three sons, Gregory R. (Nancy) Garver, Mark E. (Jamie) Garver & Michael J. (Suzanne Lynn) Garver; sister, Shirley (David) Hall; nine grandchildren, Brian G. (Dayna) Garver, Matthew J.(Justine) Garver, Kurtis L.(Margo) Garver, Stephanie R. (Tony Pickering) Garver, Mari Garver, Olivia J. Garver, Lily J. Garver, Alayna C. Garver & Andrew S. Garver; eight great grandchildren; and a special friend, Matt Davis. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Service will be held Friday, March 31, 2017 at 12:00 noon at Monroe United Methodist Church, 206 East Ave., Monroe with Pastor Joel Harbarger and Pastor Terry Ball officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 9:30 am - 12:00 noon at church. Interment will be at North Monroe Cemetery.
