Alfred "Docie" Svarda

Alfred “Docie” Svarda, 72, of Middletown, died Tuesday, May 23, 2017, at Atrium Medical Center. He was born in Middletown on February 26, 1945 to parents Alfred Julius and Jean (O'Flynn) Svarda.

Docie served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and was a member of American Legion Post 218. He was a member of Holy Family Parish, Knights of Columbus Council 1610 and volunteered with St. Vincent dePaul.

Mr. Svarda is survived by his daughter, Frances (Chad) Schneider; sisters, Kathy Gordon & Maureen (Troy) Zanetti; brother, Robert (Patty) Svarda; grandchildren, Aiden Schneider & Tyler Sparks; and many nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary E. Svarda in 2016; parents and brother, Charles Svarda.

Memorial Mass will be held Friday, June 2, 2017 at 10:30 am at Holy Family Parish - St. John's Church, 1405 First Avenue, Middletown with Father John Civille officiating.
