Alice May (Leighton) Prows, 84, formally of Middletown, died peacefully on Tuesday, November 10, 2009, at her residence in Versailles, Kentucky. She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1925 to parents John and Alice May (Williams) Leighton.
Alice was a graduate of Middletown High School and received her bachelor's degree from Miami University in Oxford. She was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church and was active for many years in various ministries.
Mrs. Prows is survived by her son, Jeffrey L. Prows; daughters, Stephanie Weidner and Janalyn (Ross Lepera) Prows; sister, Charlotte (Thomas) Moon; four grandchildren, Jason (Erin) Weidner, Sarah Weidner, Katherine Prows-Lepera and Cristina Prows-Lepera; and two great grandchildren, Jude Weidner and Saffron Weidner.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jon R. Prows in 2002; her parents; and brother, Les Leighton.
Alice was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and wife who was deeply cherished by her family and friends. Her gentle nature, strong faith, kindness and patience will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to share this life with her. She will be greatly missed.
Funeral service will be Saturday, November 14, 2009 at 12:00 Noon at WILSON-SCHRAMM-SPAULDING FUNERAL HOME, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd, Middletown, with Pastor Janet Dillaman officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 11:00 – 12:00 at the funeral home. Internment will be at Woodside Cemetery.
