Alice W. (Smallwood) Cook, age 83, of Monroe, passed away Friday, May 19, 2017, at Arlington Pointe. A 64 year resident of Middletown and Monroe, Mrs. Cook was the widow of Kenneth Marshal Cook, who preceded her in death on February 3, 2006. They were married July 9, 1952 in Lincoln County, Kentucky. She was born in Waynesburg, Lincoln County, Kentucky on May 28, 1933 to parents Lester and Verna (Mitchell) Smallwood, both of whom preceded her in death. She was a 1952 graduate of Memorial High School in Lincoln County, Kentucky. Alice was baptized into the First Baptist Church, Monroe in 1973.
Mrs. Cook is survived by her daughter, Connie L. (Daniel) Duell of Monroe, OH; two grandchildren, Ryan Kelly (Allison) Cook of Olympia, WA & Meghan Leah Cook of Hamilton, OH; and five great grandchildren. Also left to mourn her passing are two sisters, Phyllis (Vernon) Emerson of Sautee Nacoochee, GA & Velma (Charles) Johnson of Danville, KY, as well as a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Besides her husband and parents, Mrs. Cook was preceded in death by her son, Kelly Ray Cook on October 29, 2013; sister, Correne (Smallwood) Gross on June 7, 2014; and grandson, Brian Jacob Chamberlain on May 3, 2017.
Funeral Service will be held Friday, May 26, 2017 at 11:00 am at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home, 5900 North Highway 27, Science Hill, Kentucky with Reverend Curtis G. Brock officiating.
