Anna M. Lyons, 98, of Monroe, died Wednesday, December 10, 2008. She was born in Middletown, on September 27, 1910 to parents Albert E. and Edna (McLane) Duvall.
Anna attended Miami University and was a graduate of Ohio University. She began her teaching career at Garfield Elementary in Middletown, then taught elementary grades in the Cincinnati Public Schools for 40 years, retiring in 1975. A member of Psi Chi and Lambda Tau Sigma honoraries, she also served in several professional education associations and was an active member of Alpha Delta Kappa. She was a member of Middletown First Presbyterian Church and her community interests included cultural arts, civic affairs and historic preservation. She was an interpreter at Sharon Woods Village and Hauck House and President of the Cincinnati Alumni Chapter of Miami Women.
Mrs. Lyons is survived by her daughter, Joan (Allan) Lyons Felstead; sisters, Edythe Curlis and Hazel Duvall; sister-in-law, Juanita Duvall; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, C.A. Lyons.
Private service and entombment was held at Woodside Cemetery.
