Anne Louise Strait

Anne Louise Strait, 91, of Middletown, and formerly of Ashland, Ohio passed peacefully on at McKnight Terrace Assisted Living in Middletown, on Tuesday, December 6, 2005. She was born in Mt. Vernon, Ohio on September 14, 1914 to Joseph C. and Loretto (Taugher) Ferguson.

Mrs. Strait was a graduate of St. Mary of the Springs College in Columbus and was the youngest at the time to receive a Master´s degree from The Ohio State University in 1936. She worked in the Engineering Department at Ohio Bell during World War II. She married Dr. John Strait in 1941 and moved to Ashland, Ohio in 1947. Mrs. Strait served as the church organist at St. Edward´s Catholic Church for 40 years. She was a member of the Ashland Symphony Women´s League and served on the Symphony Board.

Mrs. Strait was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Dr. John Milton Strait of Ashland, Ohio and a grandson, Timothy Strait. She is survived by her four children, Dr. Connie (Alan) Patterson of Bend, Oregon, John M. (Kitty) Strait III of Denver, Colorado, Dr. Timothy (Lisa) Strait of Chattanooga, Tennessee, and Dr. Kevin (Barbara) Strait of Middletown; grandchildren, Daven Strait, James Kevin Donley, Sara Donley Bishop, Caroline Strait, and Betsy Strait; her siblings, John Ferguson of Lake Wales, Florida and Barbara Packard of Gambier, Ohio; two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews; many friends and special caregivers, Kay Dolye, Susan Hall, Debbie Smothers, and Sherlene Dishun. The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff of McKnight Terrace which was Mrs. Strait’s home for the past six years and Hospice of Dayton.

A Memorial Service will be held Friday, December 16, 2005 at 10:00 AM at McKnight Terrace with Reverend Doug Alder officiating.
