Anthony J. "Tony" Tenore, 85, of Middletown, died Wednesday, October 28, 2009, at Hospice of Butler and Warren County due to complications of various strokes over the past 12 years. He was born in Hamilton on September 6, 1924 to parents Dan and Mickalina Tenore.
Tony served in the United States Air Force during World War II and participated in the invasion of Normany, France. He and his wife, Dora, started their real estate brokerage business together in 1955, known as Tony Tenore Inc. Working together continued throughout the years until the time of his illness, and at that time Dora took over the complete management. Tony was elected president of Middletown Board of Realtors in 1970 and named realtor of the year in 1978. He served on many committees and carried the honored distinction of becoming the first CRB (Certified Real Estate Broker) in Middletown, of which he was very proud. Over the years Tony served on many committees for the Ohio Association of Realtors. He attended many National meetings and never missed an OAR convention nor a quarterly meeting. He was awarded a plaque for his 41 years of perfect attendance by the Ohio Realtors Association, for his dedication to his profession and also received a State of Ohio Senate proclamation for his accomplishments. Tony was an avid golfer and was dedicated to the YMCA where he faithfully exercised. He was a great joke teller, loved people, loved God and loved Middletown.
Mr. Tenore is survived by his wife of 59 years, Dora Tenore; daughter, Tina (Scot) Soutar; granddaughter, Nicole Soutar; brother, retired Lt. Col. Jack A. (Gwen) Tenore; sister, Lillian (Anthony) Lobuono; and brother-in-law, Adam (Rose) Cristo.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, November 2, 2009 at 10:00 am at Holy Family Parish - St. John's Church, 1405 First Avenue, Middletown with Father John Civille as celebrant. There will be no visitation. Entombment will be at Woodside Mausoleum with military honors conducted by the Middletown Combined Honor Guard.
