Anthony M. Rogers, also known as Dad, Pops & Poppy by his children, 77, of Middletown, died Friday, May 23, 2014, at West Chester Hospital. He was born at home on Sherman Ave. in Middletown on June 10, 1936 to parents Thomas Melvin and Eva B. (Lenharr) Rogers. On January 30, 1960 he married Sandra Schoultis.
Tony worked for Ohio Bell / Ameritech for over 37 years, retiring in 1993 as manager of network services. He was a lifetime member of Holy Family Parish where he served as usher for many years. He was a 4th Degree Knight member of Knights of Columbus Monsignor McNary #2299. Tony was District Director of AARP and worked with the 55 Alive program through AARP, was a member of Telephone Pioneers of America, volunteered with Shared Harvest Food Bank and St. Vincent dePaul Food Pantry, was a bell ringer for Salvation Army and was a volunteer for STARS. He enjoyed traveling, hiking & his dogs.
Mr. Rogers is survived by his faithful wife of 54 years, Sandy Rogers, who held his hand on many adventures; sons, Samuel S. (Krista) Rogers & A. Matthew (Wendy) Rogers; daughter, Katima A. (Richard) Halloy; grandchildren, Eric, Bryan, Rachel, Kelsey, Katlyn, Zachary, Max, Duncan & Keegan; sister-in-law, Georg-Anna Popp; and brothers-in-law, John (Sarah) Schoultis & Peter (Anudee) Schoultis.
He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Varina E. Rogers, PCV.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at 1:00 pm at Holy Family Parish - St. John's Church, 1405 First Avenue, Middletown with Father John Civille as celebrant. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00 – 8:00 pm at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd, Middletown with Knights of Columbus Prayer Service at 7:00 pm.
