Anthony "Tony" Madaffari, 83, of Monroe, died Wednesday, February 5, 2003 at Middletown Regional Hospital. He was born in Middletown on September 14, 1919 to parents John and Maria (Marino) Madaffari.
Tony worked in maintenance for Armco Steel Corp. for 38 years, retiring in 1978. He served in the Army during World War II, and was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3809. He was always active in sports, and played semi-pro football. He was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church.
Mr. Madaffari is survived by his wife of 51 years, Ruth (Leslie) Madaffari; three sons, Tom (Jennifer) Gray of Middletown, Joe (Kim) Madaffari of Franklin, and Steve Madaffari of Columbus; a brother, John (Barbara) Madaffari, Jr. of Trenton; two sisters Frances Day of Middletown, and Rose (Archie) Wilson of Dunn, N.C.; three grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Leo Madaffari; and two sisters, Catherine Iezzoni and Jeannette Uhl.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, February 8, 2003 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Sorrows, 330 Lebanon Street, Monroe, with Father Terry Meehan as celebrant. Visitation will be prior to the service from 9:30 - 10:30 AM at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd. at Bonita Dr., Middletown. Entombment will be at Woodside Mausoleum.
