Ashland Crace, Jr., 95, of Middletown, died Tuesday, May 19, 2015, at Bethany Village. He was born in Catlettsburg, Kentucky on March 12, 1920 to parents Ashland and Della (Ealey) Crace Sr.
Ashland retired as a Turn Foreman with Armco Steel Corp in 1982 after working there for 36 years in the Cold Strip. He served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II and received an honorable discharge with the rank of Master Technical Sergeant. Ashland was part of the First Division of the Marine Corps and served in the Pacific. Ashland has been a member of Blue Ball Presbyterian Church since 1956 and served in various leadership positions, including as an Elder. He began playing golf after his retirement and also enjoyed boating on Dale Hollow Lake in Tennessee.
Mr. Crace is survived by his daughters, Karen (John) Granby & Donna (David) Spears; sister, Betty Bowling; grandchildren, Leslie (Mark Bonadonna) Spears, Diana Watson and Jonathan (Katy) Granby; great grandchild, Ashley Watson; as well as many other loving family & friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother in 1923, his father in 1972 and his wife of 64 years, Ruth E. (Akers) Crace in 2010.
Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at 12:00 noon at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown with Reverend Kevin Lawler officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10:00 - 12:00 pm. Interment will be at Butler County Memorial Park with military honors conducted by the Middletown Combined Honor Guard.
