Axel A.W. J. von Busch, 82, of Middletown, died peacefully at home on Monday, January 19, 2009.
Born January 23, 1926 in Berlin, Germany, Axel emigrated to the USA in 1954 and moved to Middletown with his family in 1956. He became a U.S. citizen in 1959. Initially he pursued a career in agriculture, then worked as a photoengraver and remained in the printing industry until starting his own company, von Busch Irrigation, in 1983, where he remained active as a consultant until his death. Axel was president of the German-American "Hausverein" in Hamilton, Ohio for 10 years. He enjoyed traveling with his family in Europe and through 34 U.S. states.
Mr. von Busch is survived by his wife of 57 years, Annelies (Deimer) von Busch; daughters, Marianne Meyer-Ricks, residing in Germany, and Dorothea von Busch, residing in Minnesota; granddaughter, Birgit Spreitzer-Ricks; and great granddaughter, Leonie Spreitzer, also residing in Germany; and their families.
Funeral Service will be held Friday, January 23, 2009 at 11:00 am at WILSON-SCHRAMM-SPAULDING FUNERAL HOME, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown with Pastor Hal Robarge officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Inurnment will be at Woodside Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial donations be made to Hospice Care of Middletown, 1131 Manchester Ave., Middletown, OH 45042.
