Barbara A. Guzzetta, 72, of Monroe, died Thursday, June 10, 2004, at Middletown Regional Hospital. She was born in Middletown, Ohio on December 14, 1931 to parents Elbert R. and Lorraine (Stroud) Tannreuther, Sr.
Barbara was a 1949 graduate of Middletown High School and later worked as manager of the word processing center at AK Steel until retiring in 1991. Barbara was active in many groups, including the Monroe Historical Society and the New Voices Laryngeal Cancer Support Group. She also served as a volunteer tutor and secretary at Monroe High School. She was a guest speaker at many local elementary schools as well as in the Speech Therapy Department at Miami University, Oxford. Mrs. Guzzetta´s courage and faith were inspirational to many fellow cancer survivors and students in the Miami Valley.
Mrs. Guzzetta is survived by her husband, Franklin H. Guzzetta of Monroe; two daughters, Donna (Bill) Grigsby of Shelbyville, KY, and Susan Guzzetta of LaJolla, CA; two sons, John (Holly) Singleton of Liberty Township, OH, and Ed (Leta) Singleton of Richmond, KY; one sister, Bonnie Hollon of Oxford, OH; two brothers, Elbert R. (Joyce) Tannreuther of Monroe, OH, and Mark (Nancy) Tannreuther of Monroe, OH; 8 grandchildren, Jason (Ann) Singleton, Tyler Singleton, Kyle Singleton, Christie (Richard) Shelton, Jessica Grigsby, Brett Grigsby, Kellie Grigsby, and Bryce Guzzetta; 3 great grandchildren; and was the adored aunt of 10 nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be held Monday, June 14, 2004 at 10:00 AM at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd. at Bonita Dr., with Reverend Lisa Ellison officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, from 3-6 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be at Mound Cemetery in Monroe.
