Barbara Bagnall Peltier, 83, of Middletown, died on Monday, October 28, 2024 at her home. She was born on August 23, 1941 in Youngstown, Ohio to parents, Albert and Peg (Hopkins) Bagnall, both of whom preceded her in death.
She graduated from Poland Seminary High School in 1959, then went to Miami University where she received both her Bachelor's and Master's degree in Education. While there she was activated in Delta Zeta Sorority and served on Program Board and did her student teaching at McGuffey Lab School. She taught 6-8 grades for 30 years, all but 2 years in Middletown. She was the first elementary teacher to do team teaching. She served as an MTA representative and belonged to OEA, NEA, ORTA, and SWORTA. Barbara was active in many clubs, serving as President of Cristonians (Alpha Chapter), Sorosis, Middletown Teachers' Club and served on the Boards of St. Mary's Ladies Society, Federation, Cristonians, AAUW, PWP, as well as a member of Middletown Community Foundation, YMCA Travel Lecture ticket chairman, Century Club, Senior Citizens. She did volunteer work for the American Cancer Society - worked at the Bike-a-thons, Reach to Recovery, sold Christmas cards. She also tested hearing of newborns at Middletown Hospital. Barbara loved to travel and read, but her biggest enjoyment was playing Duplicate Bridge, where she reached the rank of Ruby Life Master (1500 - 2500 points)
Barbara leaves her son, Brent Peltier of Middletown; a sister, Sandy (Joe) Rey of Brooksville, Florida; and many cousins; a nephew, Scott (Joan) Allen and a niece, Wendy (John) Oliverio both of Florida.
Services will be held at a future date, with burial at Lake Park Cemetery in Struthers, Ohio.
