Beatrice Moder Finkelman
Beloved sister, mother, and grandmother, Beatrice Moder Finkelman died Sunday September 9, 2007 at Middletown Regional Hospital. Beatrice is remembered as a vital and strong, independent spirit. She was gracious, kindhearted, loving and hospitable to any and all peoples. Her early aspiration as an operatic singer led to a life long support of music and opera.
She was born January 23, 1916 in Portland, Oregon to parents Samuel and Ethel (Rubinstein) Moder.
Beatrice was a realtor for Harry Finkelman Inc., a member of Temple Beth Sholom, the Middletown Historical Society, Hadassah, Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary, Cincinnati Symphony Association, the Town Club-Cincinnati, Counsel of Jewish Women, Middletown Area Senior Citizens, Middletown Hospital Volunteers, Middletown YMCA, Metropolitan Opera Association, Red Cross, Cancer Association and the Sorg Opera Company.
Mrs. Finkelman is survived by daughters Barbara M. Finkelman Boulder, Colorado and Kay M. Irelan of Middletown, grandchildren Rachel Stephanie Lewitt of Middletown, and David Kailish Irelan of Portland, Oregon, sisters Ann Ratner of San Diego CA., Frieda Schwartz of Beverly Hills, CA, and Pearl Cutler of Rancho Bernardo CA., brother-in-law Morris Finkelman of Lodi, CA, and many nieces nephews and cousins.
Beatrice was preceded in death by her husband Harry Aaron Finkelman, and her parents.
Funeral services will be Tuesday September 11, 2007 at 12:00 PM (Noon) at Temple Beth Sholom with Rabbi Kari Hofmaister officiating. The family will receive visitors for Shiva starting Tuesday September 11 at 7:00 PM at the Finkelman residence, 2804 Central Ave., Middletown.
Entombment will be at Woodside Cemetery.
