Bernard D. “Barney” Skinner, 81, of Middletown, died Sunday, January 21, 2007, at Garden Manor Retirement Village. He was born in Middletown, on July 1, 1925 to Oather Thomas and Ella (Coyle) Skinner.
Barney worked for Armco Steel Corporation as a machinist for 40 years, retiring in 1990. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and was a member of Holy Family Parish-St. John´s Church.
Mr. Skinner is survived by his wife, Joan (Koeppel) Skinner; seven children, Virginia (Rev. Daniel) Linnenberg, Robertalee Skinner, Cristin (Ward) Pruden, Patrick (Sandy) Skinner, Michael (Colleen) Skinner, Mary Skinner (friend Jeaneen), and Johannah (Kenneth) Osborn; one brother, Jerry (Josephine) Skinner; sisters-in-law, Peg Fawns, Mary Skinner, and Betty Koeppel; 8 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Ray Skinner.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, January 25, 2007 at 10:00 AM at Holy Family Parish - St. John's Church with Father John Civille as celebrant. Visitation will be Wednesday, from 5-7 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery.
