Betty Jane Crocker, 82, went to be with the Lord Monday, December 20, 2010, at Atrium Medical Center. She was born August 25, 1928 to parents Espy Clay Highley and Sota Ray (Borders) Highley of Salt Lick, Kentucky.
Betty had always been very active at First United Methodist Church in Middletown until the death of her husband Jack in 1994. She was an active member of P.R.O.M.I.S.E.S, making four trips to Japan on a musical mission. She was past president of United Methodist Women, past Worthy Matron of the Ida Morning Star Chapter of the Eastern Star, an avid square dancer, a Kentucky Colonel, past president of Police Wives Club and in later years became a very accomplished floral designer.
She is survived by two daughters, Beverly G. Crocker of Monroe and Leslie Jane (Todd) Giltrow of Middletown; the loves of her life, her three grandchildren, Colby Schoolcraft of Monroe and Allyson and Taylor Giltrow of Middletown; sister Faye (Pasquin) Johnson of Salt Lick, Kentucky; brother, Ray Highley of Frankfort, Kentucky; special in-laws, Bill and Betty Crocker of Springboro and numerous nieces and nephews. She also leaves to cherish her memory her little “granddog” Molly.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; infant sister, Dorothy Highley; sisters Gertrude Warmoth Stephens of Middletown and Louella Johnson of Salt Lick; and brother, Roy Clay (Buster) Highley of Salt Lick.
Funeral Service will be held Thursday, December 23, 2010 at 10:00 am at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd, Middletown. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery.
