Betty M. Wilhoit

Betty M. Wilhoit, 96, of Middletown, passed away on Saturday, April 19, 2025 at home. She was born in Bath County, Kentucky on March 23, 1929 to parents, Everett and Nellie (Cline) Bailey.

Reading, education, and independence were very important to her life. After having to drop out of high school to help with family obligations, Betty enrolled in correspondence classes and received her diploma after her marriage. Later, she completed over two years of library science classes at Miami University. She was an avid reader of countless numbers of books all of her life. In order to be home when her children were off from school, she worked for Middletown City Schools, retiring as lead cafeteria worker.

Betty was devoted to her family and will be greatly missed by her daughter, Darlene Richey; son, Marlin Wayne (Vicki) Wilhoit; sister, Judy (Al) Uhl; grandchildren, Jacob Zachary (Tiffany) Sorrell & Phillip Everett (Alexandra Kontnier) Sorrell; and great grandchildren, Wyatt Wilhoit & Braiden Wilhoit.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Buell Wilhoit; sisters, Nadine Young, Barbara Crouch & Loretta Tincher; and grandson, Brian Roy Wilhoit.

Funeral Service will be held Thursday, May 1, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd, (at Bonita Dr.), Middletown with Pastor Jim Sweigart officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. A graveside committal service will be Friday, May 2, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Woodside Cemetery & Arboretum (section 21).
