Beulah M. Hughes, 77, of Middletown, passed away Wednesday, April 16, 2003 at Middletown Regional Hospital. She was born in Jeffersonville, Kentucky, on January 7, 1926, the daughter of Bradley and Verna (Whisman) Gross.
Beulah attended Carmago High School in Kentucky. She moved to Middletown in the 1940’s and married Joseph “Red” Hughes. She worked at Aeronca Inc. for many years. She loved the game of golf and played it very well, taking 1st place many times on her own or with a partner, in the Armco Retirement League. She was a devoted wife and mother.
Mrs. Hughes is survived by her loving husband of more than 50 years, Joe “Red” Hughes of Middletown; a daughter, Linda (Tom) Gibson of Hamilton; four grandchildren, Nikki of Nashville, Tennessee, and Tricia, Christina, and Joe of Hamilton; three great grandsons, Shaun, Brandon, and Noah of Hamilton; sisters-in-law Bernice Mossburg, Gertie Hughes, and Lorretta (Bill) Marstall; many nieces and nephews, and devoted friends Julia and Whitey all of Middletown.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Charles Gross; and two sisters, Ruth Robinson and Ann Gross.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, April 19, 2003 at 11:00 AM at Wilson-Schramm- Spaulding Funeral Home with Revs. Alvin Lee and Rachel Lee officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 9:30 – 11 AM at the funeral home. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery.
The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks and appreciation to the Middletown Regional Hospital nursing staff, Dr. Marvin Ray, Dr. Phuong Vuong, and Rev. Alvin Lee for their excellent care and concern.
In lieu of flowers the family wishes memorial donations be made to the American Lung Association of Ohio, Southwestern Branch, 11113 Kenwood Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45242-1817.
