Bill Hickman

Howard William "Bill" Hickman, 75, of Madison Township, died Thursday, May 3, 2012, at Atrium Medical Center. He was born in Middletown on November 10, 1936 to parents Cicero William and Emma (Hivick) Hickman.

Bill worked at the #1 Open Hearth and the BOF as a De-Gas operator at AK/Armco Steel for 38 1/2 years. Bill also enjoyed carpentry work. He was actively involved with AA for the past 17 years, was a board member of Armco Park Association for 27 years, member of the DAV and was an avid golfer. He helped start Madison Knothole and coached for many years and was involved with the Boy Scouts.

Mr. Hickman is survived by his wife, Rita (Romans) Hickman; sons, Todd (Vicki) Hickman, Tim Hickman & Terry (Lori) Hickman; sister, Eileen Doughty; grandchildren, Ashley, Brittany, Rance & Mallory Hickman; and devoted dog, Daisy.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Evelyn Oligee.

Funeral Service will be held Monday, May 7, 2012 at 10:00 AM at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 - 5:00 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery.
