Billy J. Amburgey, 73, of Middletown, died Tuesday, May 19, 2009, at his residence. He was born in Means, Kentucky on July 21, 1935 to parents Jesse and Mary (Lawson) Amburgey.
Billy was a veteran of the United States Air Force and a member of American Legion Post 218. He worked for Diamond International Paper Company for 20 years, retiring in 1974. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish, hunt and camp.
Mr. Amburgey is survived by his wife, Twila (Roth) Amburgey; sons, Doug (Mary Ann) Amburgey, Mike (Nancy) Amburgey and Todd (Carolyn) Amburgey; daughter, Pam (Chris) Jones; stepson, Robert (Peggy) Grim; stepdaughter, Lorna (Bill) England; brothers, Robert (Irene) Amburgey, Jerry Amburgey, Dave (Betty) Amburgey and Jim (Diane) Amburgey; 15 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings.
Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 - 8:00 pm at WILSON-SCHRAMM-SPAULDING FUNERAL HOME, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd, (at Bonita Dr.) Middletown, OH. Funeral Service will be Friday, May 22, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Harold & Stewart Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky with visitation one hour prior to the service from 1:00 - 2:00 pm. Interment will be at Lovely Cemetery in Mt. Sterling with military honors.
