Byron A. “Barney” Veidt, 84, of Madison Township, died Wednesday, January 18, 2006, at Middletown Regional Hospital. He was born in West Middletown on November 5, 1921 to parents Albert and Amanda (Pallman) Veidt.
Mr. Veidt worked as a carpenter for Aeronca, retiring in 1981 after 29 years. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II and was a member of American Legion Post 218.
Mr. Veidt is survived by his wife, Bonnie Jean (King) Veidt; two daughters, Gloria (Geoff) McDonnell of Madison Township and Vickie Wills of Middletown; two sons, Charles E. Veidt of Madison Township and Vernon (Patricia) Veidt of Monroe; a sister, Evelyn “Honey” Veidt of Madison Township; six grandchildren, Joe & Mike Wills, Donnie Patrick, Amanda & Brittany Veidt, and Tyler McKellar; and 12 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Grover Wills; grandson, Dale Patrick; three brothers, Ralph, Edward, & Howard Veidt; and six sisters, Estella Weidle, Elsie Fouch, Lucille Brown, Edna Mae Morgan, Esther Lynn, and Viola Turnburke Satchel.
Funeral Service will be held Monday, January 23, 2006 at 10:00 AM at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd. (at Bonita Dr.) with Reverend Daniel Heidelbaugh and Mr. Ray Wagers officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, from 2-5 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery with graveside military honors conducted by American Legion Post 218 Honor Guard.
Memorial donations may be made to the charity of donor´s choice.
