Byron S. Blake, 59, of Middletown, died Monday, February 6, 2006, at his son’s residence. He was born in Eaton, on June 24, 1946 to parents Irwin and Nancy (McQueen) Blake.
Mr. Blake worked for and retired from the United States Postal Service. He served his country in the United States Army during Vietnam, earning a Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Combat Infantryman Badge. He was also awarded a Purple Heart and Bronze Star Medal.
Byron is survived by his two children, James Blake of Middletown and Cyndie (Mike) O'Keefe of Ramsey, NJ; three grandchildren, Patrick O’Keefe, Emily Blake, and Olivia Blake; sisters, Lois (Bill) Sponsel of Franklin and Sharon (Lester) Hollon of Monroe; and brothers, Donald (Ethel) Blake of Miamisburg, Keith (Suzie) Blake of Trenton, Bruce Blake of Middletown, and Arthur (Kathy) Blake of Sarasota, FL.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Service will be held Thursday, February 9, 2006 at 10:00 AM at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd. (at Bonita Dr.) with Pastor Tyrone Blake officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 8, 2006 from 6-8 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery with graveside military honors.
