Carbin "Red" Lovelace, 86, of Middletown, died Wednesday, August 24, 2011, at Hospice of Butler & Warren Counties. He was born in Menifee County, Kentucky on January 2, 1925 to parents Nelse and Ethel (Barker) Lovelace.
Red was a 1943 graduate of Middletown High School and served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. He worked for Jefferson Smurfitt for 47 years, retiring in 1990. Over the years there he was involved as participant or coach in bowling, softball & volleyball leagues and had been a trustee in the United Paperworkers International Union Local 1973. He was a member of Crawford Street Church of God where he enjoyed singing in the church choir and Lincoln Lodge #693 F & AM and he enjoyed photography.
Mr. Lovelace is survived by his wife of 65 years, Marie D. Lovelace; son, Mark (Shari) Lovelace; daughters, Donna (Ed) Hounshell & Diane Lovelace; brothers, Garwood (Lenora) Lovelace & Rodney (Virginia) Lovelace; sisters, Bernice Francisco & Loraine Cassidy; grandchildren, Karen Napier, Jason Lovelace, Sarah Freeman, Laurie (Mark) DeMarcus & Ashley Wireman; 2 great grandchildren; and special family friend, RoseAnn Earls.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Denville Lovelace.
Funeral Service will be held Monday, August 29, 2011 at 2:00 pm at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown with Pastor Gene Frame officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 1:00 - 2:00 pm. Lincoln Lodge # 693 F & A.M. services at 1:45 pm. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery with military honors conducted by Middletown Combined Honor Guard.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Butler & Warren Counties, 5940 Long Meadow Dr., Franklin, Ohio 45005.
