Carl B. Kindell, 91, of Middletown, Ohio, died Thursday, October 2, 2003, at Middletown Regional Hospital. He was born in Anderson, Indiana on August 16, 1912 to parents Benjamin L. and Eva (Winter) Kindell.
Carl moved to Celina when he was less than one year old. He graduated from Celina High School in 1930 and went on to graduate from the College of Pharmacy at the University of Toledo. He worked in his father´s drug store for more than 20 years. He came to Middletown in 1955 and worked at the Gillen-Crow Pharmacy until his retirement in 1980. He served his country in the United States Army from 1942 - 1945.
Mr. Kindell loved to play music, and played violin in the Middletown Symphony for 25 years. He also played upright bass horn with the german band, “The Hungry Five” and sang in the choir at the First Presbyterian Church. He was a member of the Critique Literary Society.
Carl is survived by his wife of almost 57 years, Mary Frances (McChesney) Kindell of Middletown, OH; one daughter, Mary Ellen (F. Lee) St. John of Newark, OH; a brother, Ray Kindell of Lebanon, OH; and grandsons, James and David St. John.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Service will be held Monday, October 6, 2003 at 10:00 AM at First Presbyterian Church with Reverend Karen Haak and Reverend Tom Ramsey officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, from 2-4 PM at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown, Ohio, 45044. Interment will be at North Grove Cemetery in Celina, Ohio.
