Carl Wiese, 77, of Middletown, died Wednesday, December 23, 2009, at Atrium Medical Center. He was born in Waynesburg, Pennsylvania on May 4, 1932 to parents Melvin R. and Martha A. (Wright) Wiese.
Carl's family moved to Morgantown, West Virginia in early 1933 and he was educated in the Morgantown school system, graduating from Morgantown High School in 1950. He was a member of the West Virginia and Ohio National Guard from November 1947 to November 1965, attaining the rank of Warrant Officer. He worked for the B & O Railroad, Sterling Faucet Company and Davies Coal Company until moving to Middletown, Ohio in September 1953. He hired on at Armco Steel in September 1953 in the East Processing Department Finishing Section and retired as a turn foreman in 1985. After retiring from Armco, Carl volunteered at Middletown Regional Hospital from 1986 - 1988. He was later hired by MRH as a parking valet and then went back to volunteering until 2009. He also volunteered at the first balloon festivals and the United Way Golf Outings. Carl was a member of Holy Family Parish - St. John's Church, Lincoln Lodge #693 F & AM, Valley of Dayton Scottish Rite, Middletown Area Senior Citizens and Mended Hearts.
Mr. Wiese is survived by his daughters, Terry L. Wiese and Tracy L. (Jim) Napier; stepsons, David (Tracy) Thacker and Rick Thacker; five grandchildren, Bill Thacker, Nikki Back, Christina Thacker, Heather Ferguson and James Mackey; seven great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; his best friend, Charlene Morrow and his adopted family, Rob, Angela, Tara, Elise and Timothy Robert Erhart.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Linda Wiese; second wife, Nancy J. Wiese; daughter, Tamara L. Wiese; and his parents.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, December 28, 2009 at 11:00 am at Holy Family Parish - St. John's Church, 1405 First Avenue, Middletown with Father John Civille as celebrant. Visitation will be prior to the service from 9:00 - 10:30 AM at WILSON-SCHRAMM-SPAULDING FUNERAL HOME, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown. Interment will be at Springboro Cemetery.
