Carlos Cattani, 82, of Monroe, died Wednesday, August 19, 2009, at Atrium Medical Center. He was born in Alausi, Ecuador on August 3, 1927 to parents Carlos and Adela (Rodas) Cattani.
Carlos was the owner of Dayton South Auto/Truck Plaza in Franklin for over 30 years. He was very proud of the fact that on April 27, 1990, he became a citizen of the United States of America. He was a member of the Monroe Lions Club. Mr. Cattani donated land and provided financial support to build a childcare center and elementary school in Alausi, Ecuador. He was an avid Reds and Bengals fan, loved to sing & dance, and diligently followed politics. He was very involved with his grandchildren and enjoyed various activities with them, including playing chess.
Carlos is survived by his wife, Marjorie (Windsor) Cattani; son, Merle (Cathy) Cattani; daughters, Carla Cattani, Lisa (Rick) Kovach and Tressa Cattani-Monk; sisters, Italia Cattani and Piedad (Rafico) Penaherrera; goddaughter, Gina (John) Cattani Kraus; ten grandchildren, Chad, Stephen & Colton Cattani, Jaclyn, Amanda & Krystine Waits, Anthony & Courtney Monk and Kyle & Sydney Kovach; and two great grandchildren, Landon Cattani and Adalyn Cattani.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers; and 2 sisters.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to Dr. Walter Roehll and Dr. Douglas Gaker, Mount Pleasant Rehab and Atrium Medical Center.
Memorial service will be held Monday, August 24, 2009 at 7:00 pm at Vineyard Community Church, 4900 N. State Route 123, Franklin with Pastor Chuck Wolfinbarger officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at the church.
