Cecil H. Shearer, 81, of Monroe, died Thursday, October 23, 2014, at home. He was born in Beattyville, Kentucky on March 20, 1933 to parents John Lucian and Delilah (Williams) Shearer.
Cecil worked in the Roll Shop at Armco Steel Corp for 37 years, retiring in 1987. He served his country in the United States Army and was a former member of Monroe Lodge #186 F. & A.M. Cecil was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was formerly the Bishop at the church here in Middletown. He served as a missionary in Australia for 18 months and spent 24 years serving at the Latter Day Saint Temple.
Cecil is survived by his wife, Esther (Huffman) Shearer; children, Tammy (Rob) Whiteman, Debi (Don) Thornsburg, Richard (Judith) Cain and Candy (Marion) Souder; brother, Carl Shearer; sisters, Dopsey Kelly and Thelma Francis; 9 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his sons, Timothy Shearer and Timothy Brickey Cain; parents; and seven brothers & sisters.
Funeral Service will be held Saturday, November 1, 2014 at 11:30 am at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 4930 Central Ave., Middletown with Bishop Terry Beagley officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10:00 - 11:00 am at church. Interment will be at Butler County Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice Care of Middletown, 3909 Central Ave., Middletown, OH 45044.
