Charles B. Wilkinson, 80, of Middletown, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 9, 2009, at Mt. Pleasant Retirement Village in Monroe. He was born in Morrow, Ohio on October 1, 1928 to parents, the late Clarence and Vida Wilkinson.
Mr. Wilkinson attended Monroe Schools and enlisted in the United States Army for 2 1/2 years. He spent almost two of those years in Korea as a dog handler in the K-9 Corps. Afterwards he worked at Armco Steel (AK) for 34 years, most of the time in the transportation department as a switchman and conductor.
Mr. Wilkinson was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Anna Louise Wilkinson in 2006; his parents; four sisters, Dorothy Cottle, Martha Laird, Reva McClelland and Mary Shyers; and brother-in-law, Charles Chapman.
He is survived by his two sons, Ronald Wilkinson and Clarence Wilkinson; brother, Robert (Roberta) Wilkinson; sisters, Margaret Chapman and Betty (Frank) Takach; and numerous extended family members.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, September 12, 2009 at 11:00 am at WILSON-SCHRAMM-SPAULDING FUNERAL HOME, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown with Reverend Greg Wissman officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10:00 - 11:00 am. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery.
