Charles Dudley Inwood, 91, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 21, 2019 after a decade-long battle with dementia. He was born August 3, 1927, in Middletown, Ohio, to Joshua Nickerson & Louie (Alexander) Inwood. He was a 1945 graduate of Middletown High School, and a 1950 graduate of Miami University, Oxford. He married the love of his life, Sally Jo (Flenner) Inwood, November 4, 1978.
Dudley was a gentleman who was devoted to his family. He was president of Office Outfitters, founded by his father in 1927. He was a USMC WW2 veteran, and a dedicated servant to his community through Rotary, First United Methodist Church, Boy Scouts of America, and the Woodside Cemetery Board. He was a Middletown City Commissioner for eight years, serving as chairman for part of his tenure. He was a lover of all things Miami University, especially the athletic program. He doted on a lucky series of Miniature Schnauzers.
He is survived by his wife, Sally Jo; daughter, Lou Ann Short; son, Charles “Chuck” Dudley Inwood II (Jean); daughter, Lori Bolin (Jeff); step-son, Bradley Shannon (Jennifer); step-daughter, Carissa Shannon; grandchildren, Zachariah Inwood Short, Mary Rachael Short, Stephen Bolin, Carolyn Bolin Taylor (Charles), Meriel Jenkins, and Kieran Jenkins; and great granddaughter, Stella May Taylor.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Friday, January 25, 2019 at the Woodside Cemetery Chapel at 1401 Woodside Blvd., Middletown with services at 3:00 p.m. Military honors will be conducted by the Middletown Combined Honor Guard. A reception will follow in the Woodside Cemetery Community Room.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice Care of Middletown or First United Methodist Church, Middletown.
