Charles M. “Charlie” Combs, 79, of Middletown, died Sunday, December 24, 2006, at Kensington Place. He was born in Middletown, on February 15, 1927 to parents Virgil and Beulah (Stamper) Combs.
Mr. Combs served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a lifetime member of the VFW #3809 and a 60 year member of the American Legion Post 218. He worked as a realtor for 55 years, most recently with Martin Realty. Charlie played piano at the Manchester Inn dining room.
Charlie is survived by his wife, Faye (Howard) Combs; two daughters, Kim Combs and Janie (Randy) Michael, both of Middletown; a son, Chuck (Margie) Gayheart of Franklin; 8 grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Paul Combs.
Funeral Service will be held Friday, December 29, 2006 at 11:00 AM at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd. (at Bonita Dr.) with Reverend James Anderson officiating. Visitation will be Friday, prior to the service, from 9:00 - 11:00 AM. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery with military honors conducted by American Legion Post 218 Honor Guard.
