Chester Raleigh Berry, 82, of Middletown, died Friday, January 9, 2015, at Hospice of Butler & Warren Counties. He was born in Menifee County, Kentucky on August 12, 1932 to parents Walter and Elizabeth (Gilbert) Berry.
Chester served his country in the United States Army where he served from 1948 to 1952. He lied about his age to join during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged in 1952.
Mr. Berry is survived by his wife, Jean (Campbell) Dobrozsi Berry of 17 years, married April 1998; daughters, Kathy (David) Berry and Kimberly (Vincent) Harry; stepson, John (Kay) Dobrozsi; granddaughters, Jennifer Berry & Carolyn Berry; step grandchildren, Ava, Abby, Aric Huberts; brothers, Harley Berry & Wendall Berry; sisters, Dixie Wessell and Delia McGuire; and numerous nieces, nephews & cousins.
Chester was preceded in death by his parents; several brothers and sisters and first wife of 43 years, Nanny Berry who died in Oct. of 1995.
Mr. Berry was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints since January 1996. He diligently served in many callings. He served as a Temple worker in the Chicago, IL. Temple. Chester & Jean also served together in the Columbus Ohio Temple.
He retired from Armco Steel in 1993 after 38 years employment.
He was an avid sport fan and enjoyed feeding the backyard birds and squirrels. Gardening, yard work and flowers were a joy. The plentiful fruit and vegetables were willingly shared by neighbors and friends alike.
He will be truly missed by all who knew him. He was the best example of a honest, hardworking man that loved his family and friends, but most importantly loved our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at 11:00 am at Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints, , Middletown with Bishop David Nall officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 5:00 - 8:00 pm at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown, OH. Masonic Services will be Monday at 5:00PM with Jefferson Lodge #90 F. & A.M. Interment will be at Mound Cemetery, Monroe, OH.
