D. Cameron Perry

D. Cameron Perry, 87, of Middletown, died Tuesday, December 19, 2006, at Garden Manor Retirement Village. He was born in Wilmington, Delaware on June 19, 1919 to parents Daniel J. and Mildred E. (Cameron) Perry.

Mr. Perry worked as a manager in stainless steel research for Armco Steel Corporation for 40 years, retiring in 1981. He worked on the Apollo Mission. He had a patent through Armco on a Command Module Heat Shield. He also participated in work on the XB70 Supersonic Plane. He was a member & fellow of the Professional Society of Aerospace Material & Process Engineering, where he served as National President for 2 years and was a member and fellow of the American Society for Metals. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Jefferson Lodge #90 F. & A.M., Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton, Antioch Temple of Dayton, Middletown Antioch Shrine Club and the Middletown High 12 Club. Cameron served his country in the Army Air Corps during World War II.

Cameron is survived by two sons, Alan (Erin) Perry of Superior, CO and Craig (Sandra) Perry of Marietta, GA; and five grandchildren, Cameron & Lauren Perry, and Alice, Katie, & John Perry.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Betty Perry in 2003; son, Bruce Perry in 1996; daughter, Joyce Perry in 1954; and his parents.

Funeral Service will be held Thursday, December 28, 2006 at 10:00 AM at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd. (at Bonita Dr.), Middletown, with Reverend Laurence T. Doty officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 9 - 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery.
