Daniel W. O'Neil

Daniel W. O'Neil, of Middletown, passed away Wednesday, May 23, 2018, at the age of 91. He was born in Middletown on June 2, 1926 to parents Myrtle (Kramer) Myers and Adolph O’Neil.

Daniel was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. Mr. O'Neil had been a Lieutenant with the Middletown Fire Department, retiring in 1980 with 27 years of service. He served as President of Local 336 City Firefighters Union.

Mr. O'Neil is survived by his wife of 68 years, Geraldine (Vitori) O'Neil; son, Stephen O'Neil of Middletown; daughter, Victoria (Edward) Combs of Middletown; sister, Sandy (Robert) Hudson of Franklin; grandchildren, Maria Combs, Marci Combs, Ryan O'Neil & Annie O'Neil; great granddaughter, Martina Rodgers; nieces, Lana Hellard, Melanie Hood & Miranda Hudson; and nephew, Tony Hudson. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Ellen Miller, Phyllis Shoemaker & Melanie Curtis; nephews, William Shoemaker & Randy Miller; and niece, Michelle Ramerez.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at 11:30 am at Holy Family Parish - St. John's Church, 1405 First Avenue, Middletown with Father John Civille as celebrant. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10:00 - 11:00 am at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd. at Bonita Dr., Middletown. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Middletown Combined Honor Guard.
