David A. Cripe, 58, of Middletown, died Wednesday, June 9, 2010, at Atrium Medical Center. He was born in Dayton on September 7, 1951 to parents Harvey W. and Dolores T. (Gebhart) Cripe.
David was a graduate of Milton Union High School and is a member of their Hall of Fame. He was a teacher and coach for 35 years, retiring in 2008 from Butler Tech. He was past defensive coordinator at Trenton-Edgewood High School head football coach at Madison High School, head football coach at McPherson College in McPherson, Kansas, head football coach at Piqua High School and his first coaching job was at Page High School in Page, Arizona.
Mr. Cripe is survived by his wife, Ruth Anne (Singleton) Cripe; sons, Luke (Danielle) Cripe, Blake (Lauren) Cripe and Clarke Cripe; step daughters, Ashleigh (Josh) Childers and Mandy Kimberly; parents, Harvey and Dolores Cripe; brother, Wayne (Suzanne) Cripe; sister, Linda (Paul) Roth; four grandchildren, Blake Childers, Connor Davis, Caleb Cripe, Drew Dressler and granddaughter to be born in August, Elizabeth Cripe.
He was preceded in death by his brother, John Cripe and sister, Sylvana Furlong.
Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at 11:30 AM at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown with Reverend Herman Emmert officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be at Unity Cemetery in Laura, Ohio.
