David Alan Kinder

September 25, 1946 — January 22, 2024

Monroe

David Alan Kinder passed away suddenly on Monday January 22, 2024 at the age of 77. Dave was born on September 25, 1946 in Middletown, Ohio to Jack and Cecelia Kinder.  Dave attended Fenwick High School where he loved sports but excelled at basketball. Before graduating in 1965, Dave co-captained the school’s basketball team.  Dave went on to attend Bellarmine College where he majored in beer consumption and ensuring local taverns closed at the appropriate time.  Alas, the college rejected those credentials and presented him with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1969.

1969 also saw Dave marry his first wife Sue (Orr-Hammons). Dave and Sue had 2 children (Kelly and Ryan) and divorced after 24 years.  They remained close friends after their divorce until the time of his passing.

In 1970 Dave started his career at Dickerson Distributing Company.  Where he worked for 42 years as the office manager and inventory forecaster for the beer distributor (told you Bellarmine!). Dave was both beloved and feared at work for his pursuit of perfection. Whichever side of him you were on, Dave would always be ready to share a beer (or two) with you at the end of the day.

Outside of family and work, Dave loved the golf course.  He was a member of Wildwood Golf Club since the 1980’s.  Dave always had a smile on his face on the golf course, where he played hundreds of rounds over the years with friends and family.  Later in life Dave continued to support the club’s 19th hole when holes 1-18 seemed too taxing.  Wildwood is also where he met his loving wife Sue (Prosek).  Dave and Sue were married in October of 2003 and spent the last 20 plus years traveling, laughing and occasionally yelling at the television on Saturdays in the fall during Ohio State football games.

Nothing brought more joy to Dave’s life than spending time with family and friends.  He was especially proud of his children and grandchildren whom he supported at every choir concert, sporting event, musical or ceremony.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Cecelia Kinder; and his sister, Dottie.

Dave is survived by his wife, Sue; his children, Kelly (Greg) Garver and Ryan (Robin) Kinder: his grandchildren, Emily Garver, Holly Garver, Megan Garver, Jack Kinder, Owen Kinder, and Ava Kinder; nieces, Lisa Robinson and Michele Adkins: close cousins, Tom (Alenda) Kinder, Pat (Joy) Kinder and Robyn (Jay) Dobrozsi; faithful dog, Goldie.  As well as countless other extended family and friends.
