David Michael Muthert, age 54, of Franklin, passed away peacefully at home, Sunday, July 29, 2007 at 10:18 p.m. surrounded by many family members and close friends. He was born January 30, 1953 in Middletown to the parents of Robert and Theresa Muthert(Scorti). David graduated from Bishop Fenwick High School in 1971, went to work for Armco Steel, and then after 6 months joined the U.S. Marine Corps, serving most of his duty in Okinawa. After an Honorable discharge, he then went back to work at Armco in the Hot Strip, retiring in 1995. Growing up he was known to everyone by the name of “Runt”. To this day, there are friends and family members that still call him that. He was an avid golfer, fisherman and loved to spend time with his family. He was a member of VFW Post 3809. He was a great husband, step-father, son, brother and friend that will be missed very much. Every one that knew him loved him.
He is survived by his wife of 4 years, Susan (Held) Muthert; mother, Theresa Muthert; two sisters, Gail (husband Paul) Corrill of Middletown and Connie (husband Gerry) Sandker of Franklin, OH and a brother, Gary (wife Kellie) Muthert of Cincinnati, OH. He is also survived by his step-daughter, Janie Collins, a step-grandson, Donavon Collins, nieces, Angela (husband, David) Fraley and Emily Muthert; nephew, Dominic Muthert, and a great niece, Kyla Muthert. He leaves also behind two sisters-in-law; Bobbie (husband Gary) Young of Oak Island, NC, Diana (husband Dick) Nixon of Mason; brothers-in-law, Tom Held of West Chester and Gerry (wife Patty) of Texas, many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Not to forget Punky, his favorite dog who will miss him very much.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert who passed away June 30, 2004. The family would like to thank Dr. Malcolm and his staff, all of the nurses and caregivers of Hospice Care of Middletown for all the wonderful care they gave to David and also to the family and friends during the time David was with us.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, August 2, 2007 at 12:00 NOON at Holy Trinity Church, 201 Clark Street, with Father Civille as celebrant. Visitation will be prior to the mass from 9:30 – 11:30 AM at WILSON-SCHRAMM-SPAULDING FUNERAL HOME, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown. Entombment will be at Woodside Cemetery with military honors conducted by American Legion Post 218 Honor Guard.
