Donald E. Hill

Donald E. Hill, 87, of Trenton, went home to be with his Lord and his beloved wife, Betty on Wednesday, April 7, 2010, at Hospice of Butler and Warren Counties. He was born in Portsmouth, Ohio on June 3, 1922 to parents James A. and Carrie A. (Massie) Hill.

Don worked in East Processing Maintenance at Armco Steel for 34 years, retiring in 1976. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II with the 17th Airborne Infantry in the European Theatre.
Don was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He loved his family above all else. One of his greatest pleasures was holding and rocking the many babies in the family. He had a big heart and was always willing to help anyone in need. He will be greatly missed by everyone.

Mr. Hill is survived by his sons, Robert E. Hill and Donald W. Hill; daughters, Gwendolyn (Russell) Wilson and Bonnie S. (Terry) Stahl; sister, Dolores Spinks; 12 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and 5 great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Betty E. (Highley) Hill in 2000; his parents; and brothers and sisters.

Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at 1:00 pm at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown with Pastor Paul Mills officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Middletown Combined Honor Guard.
