Donald J. Daly

Donald James Daly, 80, of Middletown, passed away Wednesday, April 8, 2009, after a short illness, at Atrium Medical Center. He was born in Middletown on December 7, 1928 to parents William and Marie (Rau) Daly.

Don was a Korean War veteran and a member of the Middletown American Legion Post 218. He retired from Armco Steel in 1991 after more than 44 years of employment. He enjoyed cooking, working with stained glass and his family. He was a life-long member of Holy Family Parish and Wildwood Golf Club.

Mr. Daly was preceded in death by his wife of more than 55 years, Anne (Guthman) Daly; his parents; sister, Betty Sommers; brothers, Bill, Ralph, Joe, Tom and Robert; daughter-in-law, Suzanne (Fraley) Daly; and grandson, Austin Joseph Daly.

He is survived by his brother, Mark (Sue) Daly of Cornelius, NC. He will be sorrowfully missed and eternally remembered by his sons, daughters and grandchildren, Jim (Charlotte) Daly of Louisville, KY, John (Beth) Daly and their sons Kyle of Hunter and Sean of Arkadelphia, AR, Kathy (Jim) Harris of Middletown and their daughter Danielle (Justin) Simpson of Cincinnati, Karen (Terry) Senesac and their children Kara (Mike) Sestito, Michelle and Brian of Grove City, Kristi (Bill) Cofield and their children, Lauren and William of Jackson, MO and Scott of Brooklyn, NY, Joe (Debbie) Daly and their daughters Kelsey and Elena of Middletown and Jeff (Cindy) Daly and their daughters Regan and Riley of Miamisburg.

A Celebration of Life and Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, April 13, 2009 at 10:00 am at Holy Family Parish - St. John's Church, 1405 First Avenue, Middletown with Father John Civille as celebrant. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 - 5:00 pm at WILSON-SCHRAMM-SPAULDING FUNERAL HOME, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery with military honors conducted by Middletown Combined Honor Guard.
