Donald M. Gose, 84, of Middletown, died Sunday, April 2, 2006, at Garden Manor Extended Care following a long illness. He was born in Frenchburg, Kentucky on September 1, 1921, the son of Henry N. and Nettie M. (Armitage) Gose, moving to Middletown at the age of 4.
Don attended Middletown Schools, graduating from Middletown High School in 1938 at the age of 16. He served in the United States Army Pacific Theatre during World War II for 3 years. He was awarded the Silver Star and also received the Purple Heart.
He was a practicing attorney in Middletown for 40 years, retiring in September 1990. He was a graduate of Miami University, where he earned a bachelor of arts degree in 1949 and a 1952 graduate of the University of Cincinnati School of Law with a juris doctorate degree. He served as president of the Butler County Bar Association and also was a member of the Ohio Bar Association; and was admitted to practice befor the Supreme Court. He also served as Middletown City Commissioner from 1957-1965. He was a lifelong member of the Crawford Street and Breiel Blvd. First Church of God, where he taught Sunday School for 21 years and served on many boards and committees. He attended the Pathfinders Sunday School Class and The Men´s Group.
Mr. Gose is survived by his wife, Anna Anita (Adams) Gose; three daughters, Deborah Gose of Middletown, Lisa Gose of Fairfield, and Mary Gose of Middletown; a brother, Dixie Franklin Gose of Middletown; and many loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Bernice Yocum, Eunice Cope, Lucretia DeWeese, Markaleta Huntsberger, and Lodema Gose; and brothers, Merrill Gose and Eugene Gose.
He was a loving husband and father; a kind man with tremendous faith. The family wishes to extend special thanks to Garden Manor Extended Care for their excellent, loving care and to Vitas Hospice of Cincinnati.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 6, 2006 from 11-12:00 pm at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd. (at Bonita Dr.), Middletown, OH. Private Funeral Service will be held at the convenience of the family with Rev. Dr. Eric Newell officiating.
