Donald O. Spaulding

Don Spaulding, 86, died Sunday at Twin Towers. He was born the youngest of four boys to Lillie & George Spaulding. He graduated from Western Hills High School in 1934. Following graduation he attended the YMCA Business School and went to work for Carrier Air Conditioning Company. From there he went to work for Williamson Heating and Cooling Company, where he worked for 40 years, retiring in 1979 as Vice President of Engineering. Don met his bride-to-be, Evelyn, through the Price Hill Methodist Youth Group. He went into the service in 1941, stationed at Will Rodgers Air Force Base. They married in Oklahoma City in 1942. Don and his family returned to Price Hill in 1959 and became very active in the life of the church. Some of Don's involvements included Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School teacher, Chairman of the Administrative Board, member of the Board of Trustees, Chairman of Finance, Treasurer, and "chief engineer" (fixed everything and anything that needed repairing) Don loved to watch all sports but personally enjoyed golfing, fishing, and bowling. He was involved with Junior Achievement, was a host for the Shriner's Burn Hospital, and was a member of the North Bend Masonic Lodge #346. He is survived by his wife Evelyn A. (Schmidt) Spaulding, son Ron (Judy) Spaulding, daughter Merial (Don) Miller, brother-in-law Walter Schmidt, granddaughters Jennifer Spaulding-Sancrant and Kara Miller, and grandsons Eric Miller and Mark (Kelley) Spaulding. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Charles, Homer, and Frank Spaulding.
