He was born in Youngstown Ohio on October 30, 1934 to Duncan and Lena (Price) McCormick. He was a loving husband, caring father and doting grandfather. He proudly graduated from The Ohio State University and became a Professional Engineer. He was a member of the Church of the Ascension Episcopal Church and supported The Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church.
He volunteered his time to churches, the Exchange Club, AHEPA, People Working Cooperatively, the Masons Lincoln Lodge and many other civic organizations. He also was a member of the Ace Car Club and enjoyed classic cars. He also established a scholarship fund to memorialize his beloved daughter Debbie.
He loved to golf and played many of the most famous courses in the world. He was also an exceptional woodworker and craftsman. He was an avid OSU sports fan and lived in the stadium while going to college. He was a member of the local OSU Alumni Club. He could be found at OSU football home games every year since he graduated.
For thirty years he worked at Armco (AK) Steel's International Division as a metallurgical engineer. In his position he traveled extensively and gathered friends from every corner of the globe.
In retirement he was also worked part time as a real estate agent for Martin Real Estate and tax preparer for H&R Block.
He is survived by his wife Mary Lou (Revelos) McCormick; daughter Catherine McCormick; son Scott McCormick and wife Vanessa McCormick; grandchildren Anastasia Eggerman, Collin McCormick and Alexander McCormick. Don was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Jean McCormick and daughter, Deborah McCormick.
He will be truly missed by his family, friends and all those who knew him. We are sure he will having a beer on the 19 hole with Woody Hayes in heaven.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday July 21st, 2015 at 10:00am at CHURCH OF THE ACSENSION 2709 McGee Avenue, Middletown.
Visitation will be Monday July 20th, 2015 from 5:00-7:00pm at WILSON-SCHRAMM-SPAULDING FUNERAL HOME, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown.
Memorial donations may be made to the Debbie McCormick Memorial Advised Fund (Middletown Community Foundation 300 N. Main Street Middletown, OH 45042) or Alzheimer's Association of Greater Cincinnati (644 Linn Street, Suite 1026, Cincinnati OH 45203).
