Don Bradford, age 74, quietly slipped from this life to the next to be with his Lord on March 4, 2003, after a nine year valiant fight against Parkinson's Disease.
Don was born February 24, 1929, in Hitchins, Kentucky, one of a family of nine children. He was a veteran of World War II having served in Germany. In March of 1956, he married Jennie Adams and they moved to Middletown, Ohio, their home for the next 44 years. They had two daughters, Terri Lynn Egelston (Bob) of Middletown, OH, and Mary Ann Galemmo (Joe) of Tipp City, OH, with whom they have made their home for the last 3 years.
Don worked at AK Steel Company (then Armco Steel) retiring from #2 Open Hearth after 30 years of service. Through the years, he also held various second jobs at area businesses. He was an active Big Brother, encouraging and supporting 4 area young men. Most of all, however, Don loved working in his church home of 40 years, the Yankee Road First Church of God. He served on the Board of Trustees, sang in the choir, was a youth camp counselor and provided transportation for those who needed a way to church.
Besides his wife, daughters, and sons-in-law, Don is survived by his grandchildren; Brad (Marcia) Egelston of Middletown, Leigh Ann Egelston of Columbus, and Rachel, Mary Kate, Jennifer, and Ali Galemmo of Tipp City. He also leaves behind 3 brothers, Fred Bradford of Olive Hill, KY, Dewey Edward Bradford of Grayson, KY, and Jack Bradford of Gulfport, MS, and two sisters, Jolene (Bradford) Kitchen of Columbus, OH, and Alice (Bradford) Dingee of Hitchins, KY.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Lee Eunice (Crum) Bradford, two brothers, Earl Wade and James Edwin Bradford, a sister Martha Lee (Bradford) Winters, and a granddaughter, Hannah Grace Galemmo.
His family is proud of the man he was and he was fortunate to have a host of loving and caring friends. He will be greatly missed.
