Dora DeHart, 91 of Liberty, Township went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2008 at her residence. She was born in Farler, Ky. On March 14, 1917 to parents W. B. and Mary ( Fields) Farler.
Dora was a home maker, a founding member of the First Baptist Church of Monroe, the most important part of her life occurred when she gave her heart to the Lord in October 1958, she was a very active member of the church where she had formerly served as WMU Director and taught Sunday School. Dora loved to talk and witness to others about Christ and did so until her dying day. She was a member of DAR and was a Kentucky Colonel. She has written several books on genealogy and about her mountain heritage of which she was very proud.
Her family was very important to her and is a devoted mother and grandmother she is survived by a son Michael (Robyn) DeHart, two daughters; Wonette (Hayse) Baker, Wilma ( Robert) McGuire, three sisters; Alice Spurlock, Lea (Mike) Floyd, Jewell Henisor, three brothers Carl (Betty) Farler, Robert ( Hattie) Farler, Albert (Betty) Farler , 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Taylor DeHart in 1994.
Funeral services Friday, Sept. 26, 2008 at 11:00 am at the First Baptist Church of Monroe. Revs. Dave Hill and Bill Liston officiating. Visitation Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home 3805 Roosevelt Blvd. ( At Bonita Dr.) Interment at Mound Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
