Dorcas J. Litherland Weidner

Dorcas J. Litherland Weidner, 91, of Monroe, formerly of Cincinnati & Somerville, Ohio died Thursday, January 17, 2013, at Atrium Medical Center. She was born in Holstein, Nebraska on February 4, 1921 to parents Herschel and Joy Belle (Wilson) Litherland.

Mrs. Weidner began her teaching career in elementary education in VanWert and Fostoria, Ohio and later taught vocal music for 20 years in the Northwest Local School District in Hamilton County. She was a member of Monroe Presbyterian Church, Monroe Current Events Club, Philomathians, College Hill Music Club in Cincinnati and sang as a soloist with church choirs & choruses over the years. She was a lay caregiver with Stephen Ministries and volunteered at Mt. Pleasant Retirement Community where she resided.

Mrs. Weidner is survived by her son, Jeffry (Joanie) Weidner of Cincinnati; daughter, L. Jan (Russell) Weaver of Ashland, Ohio; grandchildren, Joyanna (Tony) Holdren Gittings, Seth Holdren, Todd Holdren, Peter (Olivia) Holdren & Laura (Agus) Holdren Suyasa; great grandchildren, Tony Jr., Isabel, Evie and Auggy Gittings & Alan Suyasa; sister-in-law, Judith H. Litherland and her children Ted, Kathryn & Sarah, and niece Fran Folsom.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Weidner in 2005; parents; and brother, Bennett H. Litherland.

Memorial Service will be held Sunday, February 10, 2013 at 3:00 pm at Monroe Presbyterian Church, 57 West Elm St., Monroe. The family will gather with friends at the church following the service.
