Dorothy Fern Marcum, 92, a resident of Monroe for 53 years, passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2018, at her daughter’s home in Georgia. She was born in Morgan County, Kentucky on September 2, 1925 to parents Walker Lee and Nannie Frances (Hasty) Mann.
Dorothy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, neighbor & friend who enjoyed making a loving home for her family with her cooking, baking & sewing. She formerly worked as a hairdresser in Middletown & Monroe. She enjoyed square dancing with her husband, fishing, walking on the beach & growing vegetables. Dorothy was a prolific quilter who gave quilts to her family, friends & neighbors.
Mrs. Marcum is survived by her daughter, Deborah (Thomas) Grant; granddaughters, Molly (Paul) Adams & Meredith (Corey) Cross; and great grandchildren, Griffin, Grant & Garrett Adams & Edward Cross. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Edward Marcum in 2013; parents; brothers, Arnold Mann & Herschell Mann; and sister, Edith Leach, Mary Sherard & Gladys Wheeler.
Graveside service will be held Saturday, April 14, 2018 at 12:30 pm at North Monroe Cemetery with Reverend Joel Harbarger officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd. at Bonita Dr., Middletown.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Butler & Warren Counties, 5940 Long Meadow Dr., Franklin, Ohio 45005.
