Dorothy M. Reed

Dorothy M. "Dotty" Reed, 94, passed Sunday, May 13, 2012, at The Knolls of Oxford. She was born in Middletown on October 7, 1917 to parents James Elmer and Ethel Kathleen (Upton) Jewell and was a life-long resident of Middletown.

Dotty was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church of Middletown and was a volunteer at Middletown Regional Hospital. She loved to travel, traveling the world with her husband, spending winters in Florida and summer weekends on their houseboat on the Ohio River.

Mrs. Reed is survived by her sons, Stanley Rusty Reed Jr. of Centerville, James (Sabine) Reed of Hamilton & John (Sherry) Reed of Ft. Pierce, Florida; three grandchildren, Margaret Ann Reed, Alicia M. Wallman & Allison Bushbaum; and four great grandchildren, Lauren Wallman, Robyn Wallman, Sean Wallman & Reed Bushbaum.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Reed Sr. in 2000; parents; brother, James Jewell; sister, Audrey Jewell; and daughter-in-law, Georgia Reed.

The family would like to thank the staff at The Knolls of Oxford and Vitas Hospice for their wonderful & loving care.

Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at 1:00 PM at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown with Pastor David Hilton officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 12:00 - 1:00 pm. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the charity of your choice.
