Dorothy Rutledge Fouts

Dorothy ended her long goodbye on August 1, 2004, bringing her life to a peaceful closure. She was surrounded by her loving family and her devoted caregivers at the Gables at Middletown, Hospice of Dayton.

Dorothy was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed her youth on her parent’s farm (William & Clara Rutledge) on State Route 63 in Monroe. She attended Monroe schools and Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church. She retired from Middletown City Schools after 13 years of service at Maple Park and Roosevelt.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter Paula (Mrs. Gary) Beiser of Franklin; three grandsons, Jonathon of Altadena, CA, Matthew (Lori) of Hamilton, and Patrick (Julie) of Trenton; two great grandchildren, Jacob and Jessie Beiser of Trenton; a brother-in-law Richard Bendel of Middletown; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends, especially Evelyn Haines.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Fouts; her parents, Clara and William Rutledge; two sisters, Mildred (Richard) Bendel and Virginia Rutledge; and a brother, Charles Rutledge.

Dorothy will be remembered for her patience, quiet courage, and beautiful smile.

A celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, August 3, 2004 from 5 – 8:30 pm at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd. at Bonita Dr., Middletown. Funeral service will be Wednesday, at 11:00 AM at the funeral home, with Chaplain Stan Gockel officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Hamilton, Ohio.
