Douglas R. Boxwell

December 15, 1916 — April 24, 2003

Douglas R. Boxwell, 86, of Springboro, passed away on April 24, 2003, at Sycamore Hospital. He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Laura Boxwell; a sister, Louella Ebright; and a brother, Homer Boxwell. He is survived by a sister, Thelma Lee of Bethany Lutheran Village in Centerville; a daughter, Susan Morrow, her husband Paul, and Susan’s mother, June Boxwell, all of Otterbein-Lebanon Retirement Community; granddaughter Mary (Chris) Brower of Cuyahoga Falls; grandson, Dr. David (Lynne) Morrow, and great granddaughter, Beth Morrow, all of Frankford, West Virginia.

Mr. Boxwell was a life long member of First United Methodist Church in Middletown, where he served as an usher and on numerous committees. He was president of the Men´s Club, and for more than fifteen years, served as Lay visitor to Middletown Hospital.

A World War II Veteran, Mr. Boxwell served with the Third Marine Division, Pacific Theater. He was associated with the American Legion Post 218, Jefferson Lodge #90, F. & A.M., Middletown Council #136, Middletown Chapter #87 RAM, and Middletown Knights Templar.

Mr. Boxwell retired from Armco (AK) Steel as a Roll Forman in 1975 after a career of 40 years. During that period his services were utilized by Armco International in their efforts to start rolling operations in Germany and Finland.

No visitation or services are planned. Cremation and scattering of cremains, will be at the convenience of the family.
