Dr. Donald Roger Sprowls

Dr. Donald Roger Sprowls, 63, of Franklin Township, Ohio, died Tuesday, April 22, 2003, at Middletown Regional Hospital. He was born in Wooster, Ohio on October 30, 1939 to parents Dr. C.W. and Nora (Fry) Sprowls.

Donald graduated from Ohio State University School of Dentistry in 1964. He then was a Captain in the U.S. Army for three years during the Vietnam War. During the first year of service, he completed a dental internship program at Ft. Bening, Georgia. He then completed specialty training in orthodontics at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. He has been practicing orthodontics since 1969 in Middletown, Lebanon, and Springboro.

He was a devoted father and husband and an accomplished woodworker. He was involved as a coach in the S.A.Y. and Select Soccer Programs for many years and coached all four of his children in soccer. He also volunteered in their school activities.

Dr. Sprowls was a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, American Dental Association, Ohio Dental Association, and Keely Dental Society. He was a former member and past president of Middletown Exchange Club.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Roberta McCombs.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Joanne (Miller) Sprowls of Franklin Township; two daughters: Jennifer Sprowls of Bloomington, IN, and Katherine Sprowls of Franklin Township; two sons: David (Jennifer) Sprowls of San Francisco, CA, and Dr. Matthew (Heidi) Sprowls of Middletown; one sister: Rita Bachman of Ashland, KY; two brothers: Rex (Geri) Sprowls of Wooster, and Richard (Billie) Sprowls of Columbus; and a granddaughter, Alexandra Sprowls of San Francisco, CA.

Funeral Service will be held Saturday, April 26, 2003 at 11:00 AM at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd. at Bonita Dr., with Monsignor Paul Metzger officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 5-8 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be at Springboro Cemetery.
