Dr. George D. Smith

Dr. George D. Smith, 92, of Middletown, died Wednesday, December 28, 2011, at Atrium Medical Center. He was born in Hamilton on April 18, 1919 to parents Walter and Elizabeth (Laytart) Smith.

Dr. Smith was a local physician for over 50 years, retiring in 1993. He was a member of the American Medical Association and served his country in the United States Army.

He is survived by his four children, Patricia Smith, Denny Smith, Vincent Smith & Catherine (Scott) Thomas; two grandchildren, Courtney Thomas & Caroline Thomas and two brothers, Jim Smith & Walter Smith.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen Jean Smith; second wife, Rosemary Smith and his parents.

Memorial service will be held Monday, January 2, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd., Middletown with Pastor Eric Bobbitt officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 - 2:00 pm. Entombment will be at Miami Valley Memory Gardens on Tuesday, Jan 3, 2012 at 10:00 am.
